@malteseh@ThatEricAlper 15 years after seeing Terrence Malick's Tree of Life, I have more visual memories of it than I do of The Odyssey, which I saw 2 months ago.
@SkinnerPm I love korma even though it's milder than the curries I usually prefer. It's Indian comfort food to me, usually with lamb but tofu also sounds great.
@ElinGregory@EroNekoUwU To my dismay – by nature I'm totally sedentary – I found that exercise helps a huge amount. So I pay a trainer to come to my home and force me to go out and work out. Been doing it 10+ yrs and it's worth every penny.
@StevenIsserlis I've had the great good luck to hear him conduct several times – often Bruckner – in his 80s and 90s, most recently at the Paris Philharmonie, which has him scheduled for Haydn and Sibelius in January 2027. May he make it in good health!
@uptonbell Yes, this. When I taught American Cinema to French kids at Ecole Polytechnique, I opened with Casablanca, first B&W film most of them had seen. It was often their favorite. (When they later picked films for discussion, I limited them to 1980 and earlier.)
@StevenIsserlis Oh noooo. I'll miss her so much. Just name-checked her the other day in a discussion of Reynaldo Hahn songs. No one sang them better, even the French agreed. She gave some of the most memorable recitals of my life, and her Grande Duchesse was *chef's kiss*.
@ElinGregory@MattPinner_ I'd say he also needs a couple keys he can no longer recall what they opened, and a few of those little plastic envelopes each containing one button for a garment he no longer has.
@TheStingisBack@MadameDisdain Saw it when it first came out and loved it so much that I grabbed a friend and made her go with me to see it again. She and I still talk about it. Just looked up where to stream it here in France, and it's on Prime (for a fee, which I may have to fork out...).
@IMadeLaws There're maybe 2 or 3 mixed-race people as players in the whole cast, including one of the stars. It pretty much reflects the NHL, which is 97% white. I've always wondered why.
@JonErlichman A colleague brought one to the office when they first came out. "Here, try this," he said. "It's like having a band where your brain used to be."
@WhitStillman Only problem I've ever had with it is what an unlikely Frenchman Lancaster makes. But he's so good that he overcomes my skepticism every time.
@WhitStillman Memorable for so many reasons but not least was the fatal wound it dealt to the Production Code. I imagine the censors finally throwing up their hands.
@wwxwashere I started reading fic (on LJ) 18 years ago and I'm nearly 75 now. I don't write fic, but I always try to give good comment. Most fun is reading fic set in, like, 1960s or '70s and replying, "Oh, yeah, I lived through that."
@fcadenhead@InsideHindustan Just block these. They're engagement-bait bots. No one on their end sees your answers, but your responses put these stupid things into my feed.
