We are delighted to welcome our partners from Terra Tech, Germany, who are currently undertaking a monitoring mission across our Terra Tech-funded interventions in Bo, Pujehun, Kailahun, and Kenema districts.

The mission aims to assess the progress, impact, and sustainability of projects supported by @BMZ_Bund while engaging directly with beneficiaries, community leaders, school authorities, and local stakeholders to better understand the outcomes and lessons emerging from these interventions.

The visit commenced at Government Secondary School in Jimmy, Bo District, where the team assessed key facilities established under our FEED Project, including the food processing center, inland valley swamp, and school gardens. These investments are helping to improve food security, dietary diversity, practical agricultural education, and the nutritional wellbeing of schoolchildren and surrounding communities.

The team then proceeded to Pujehun District, where they assessed the functionality and utilization of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities constructed through our P7373 initiative, engaging community members on how improved access to safe water and sanitation is contributing to healthier, more resilient communities.

The monitoring mission continues across Kailahun and Kenema districts, where the team is visiting additional project sites, interacting with beneficiaries, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions designed to strengthen livelihoods, education, food security, renewable energy, and community resilience.

Beyond inspecting project infrastructure, the mission provides an invaluable opportunity to celebrate achievements, document lessons learned, identify areas for improvement, and strengthen accountability. The findings will help inform future programming and ensure that project investments continue to deliver sustainable benefits for the communities they serve.

@SendSierraleone was honored to host a distinguished delegation from Ireland’s Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade at our Headquarters in Kenema as part of their monitoring visit to Sierra Leone.

The delegation, accompanied by H.E. Patrick McManus, Ambassador of @IrlEmbFreetown, engaged with SEND staff, partners, and beneficiaries to gain firsthand insight into the impact of development initiatives being implemented across communities.

The visit provided an opportunity to witness the transformative outcomes of the enduring partnership between the people of Ireland through their @Irish_Aid program and the people of Sierra Leone, particularly in advancing women’s empowerment, financial inclusion, good governance, accountability, education, and sustainable community development.

A key highlight of the visit was a live discussion on Nyapui Radio, where members of the delegation commended SEND Sierra Leone’s efforts in empowering women, strengthening communities, and promoting inclusive development. They also recognized Nyapui Radio as a vital platform for amplifying the voices of women and marginalized groups, fostering civic participation, and encouraging community dialogue.

The delegation further acknowledged the significant impact of Credit Unions and Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs) in improving livelihoods and expanding financial opportunities for women. They praised the increasing number of women assuming leadership roles within their communities as a testament to the positive change being driven through these interventions.

We sincerely appreciate the continued support and partnership of the Government and people of Ireland. Together, we remain committed to building resilient, inclusive, and prosperous communities across Sierra Leone.

We’ve held a media briefing on a Community Score Card Report covering five districts across Sierra Leone. The assessment conducted through support from @Irish_Aid @IrlEmbFreetown aimed to evaluate public service delivery and promote accountability, inclusion, and responsive governance throughout the country.

The engagement brought together representatives from government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), development partners, civil society organizations, media practitioners, and other key stakeholders to discuss key findings and recommendations from the assessment conducted across 23 chiefdoms in Bonthe, Falaba, Kailahun, Kenema, and Kono districts.

The initiative assessed service delivery in key sectors including Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), gender-based violence response systems, climate governance, and social protection services.

The findings highlighted progress in areas such as SRHR and women’s representation, while also drawing attention to persistent challenges including shortages of qualified health personnel, inadequate medical supplies, weak climate preparedness systems, and limited accountability mechanisms affecting vulnerable communities.

The event created an important platform for dialogue, reflection, and collective commitment toward strengthening responsive governance, inclusive service delivery, and citizen participation in accountability processes.

As the 2025 implementation year draws to a close, our team today participated in a live radio discussion to reflect on @SendSierraleone’s journey throughout the year. The discussion provided an opportunity to share key highlights of our work in 2025, acknowledge the challenges encountered, and outline our plans for the year ahead.

Throughout the year, we have continued to amplify citizen voices, strengthen social accountability, promote inclusive governance, and support community-led development across our programme areas. From deepening community engagement and advancing gender equality initiatives, to strengthening peacebuilding efforts, education and improving access to health and information through trusted media platforms, our interventions have remained focused on empowering communities and influencing responsive leadership.

During the discussion, the team also spoke candidly about the challenges faced, including resource constraints, difficult terrains, and evolving socio-economic pressures within communities. Despite these challenges, our commitment to accountability, transparency, and people-centred development has remained unwavering.

Looking ahead, we’re focused on consolidating gains made in 2025, strengthening partnerships, scaling up impactful interventions, and deepening community ownership to ensure sustainability. We remain grateful to our partners, the media, community leaders, and citizens whose collaboration and trust continue to drive our work.

Together, we move forward with renewed commitment to building inclusive, resilient, and accountable communities.
