If you are feeling sad and hopeless that is completely understandable, but it's also a luxury we can't afford right now. Here's a list of some great organisations helping on the ground, just as a handy guide:
This is back to school in America.
Run, hide, fight.
Jump out of windows.
Barricade behind doors in classrooms, dorms and bathrooms.
Duck and cover.
Hide under desks.
Text your parents goodbye.
It’s morally insane that a week after a mass shooting took six lives in our community, House Republicans only response is to expel us for standing with our constituents to call for gun control.
What’s happening in Tennessee is a clear danger to democracy all across this nation.
On Friday, @planetmoney did an episode on libraries in ebooks.
I waited on listening, knowing I'd have to take notes and rant about it, because most news coverage is so bad on this issue.
Parts are really good. Other parts are... well...
Get your popcorn.
At least 33 children have been killed in school shootings in 2022 so far.
20 cops have been shot and killed in the line of duty.

@nikostratis “I never learned my AA, BB, CCs, god god, dammit dammit” “I’d like to sell vending machines that sell vending machines. It’d have to be real fucking big”

Much appreciation to @HofiusHallTT for writing this story to bring attention to the disturbing downward trend in school's having certified school librarians. As a SSD graduate and a person with a MLIS, I have some additional thoughts. https://t.co/dQVMfJcibZ
Overall, this trend is depriving our students of a complete education. They will be less prepared for their careers, college, and handling real world challenges. I feel like I would be doing my community a disservice if I didn't speak out in some way against these cuts.
