@burgircola@dieworkwear I'd read that ๐. It's a bit dry and dense at times but there's gold in this thesis from a few years back - https://t.co/Low1XYcGoX
@IsVittra@chibikaijuu@jstclair1@dieworkwear I really love this mini thread. Turns out that the making of clothing is the actual Turing test. I'm a leatherworker and same distinctions apply - straight lines and simple stitching can be automated like a nissan engine, complex patterns in 3 dimensions = miles away
@davelostdave@ThatsAdamPrice@rail_guns Pleased this is settled now and we'll get our new bridge. Displeased about yet another 'friends of...' group wasting everyone's time and money. On balance am erring happy thanks to the appearance of Jane Jacobs and John Stuart Mill in a chat about cycling around grandpont
@FeldyJan@XeraCalm77@ZenNicCage@ArmandDoma Bet you have some tales to tell. I've worked on a few online booking systems like this. Approaches vary but true integrations are rare. Shared databases (or synched exports) but a separation of concerns between the new online code and existing core.
@duckrabbitblog@JAMortram I get it and can see where you have been nuanced. The unfairness? Such a detailed and forensic focus in response to such a condemnatory post in itself sends a message. "Fails the humanity test" probably would hurt many photographers - but Jim? It's context again I guess
@duckrabbitblog Ok. There's a valid point lurking in there perhaps but it takes mere minutes to look into the context here before targeting the ethics of the photographer (and here the subject) so stridently on Twitter.
@duckrabbitblog I'm a long time admirer of your work and don't want to overegg the point but we both know @JAMortram is NOT a powerful agency photographer, NGO or media conglomerate so critiquing his deeply personal work in this way on Twitter feels both unfair and maybe a 'power' problem too
@duckrabbitblog That an image made as part of a wider body of work with full consent, in the context of a close and trusting relationship and shared not only with full consent but as the whole purpose of the exercise should be judged as though it were made by an exploitative stranger.
@duckrabbitblog This is a confusing thread. It seems to me that Jim is a photographer who considers these questions and many more constantly. Including here. If Jim and his mother decide that this image tells their truth that is power they hold, noone else. A painful image but a loving one.
We know the England team losing the #EURO2024 is the worst outcome for some, for others however it's the reality of waiting for their partner to come home.
Football doesn't cause #DomesticAbuse, abusers do.

@spectator This is a beautifully written harrumph from Jane Robins. "The portly line judges peering over blue-striped bellies, hands splayed on white-trousered knees, exhibiting all the concentration and intensity of a surgeon about to make his first cut.ย " ๐ซก
@RevRichardColes Every successful movement for change has had a strand which alienates or seems counter productive at the time. "They have a point but I disagree with the means". The rioters, martyrs or even just irritants. These aren't the 'planners' they're the disruptors.
