The Communisaurus. E = Empowering. Empowering yourself and others leads to success. Be teacher and student. Tap into your CM books and learn from our network. Share knowledge to colleagues freely. Increasing our circle of profs/allies equals true scalability. Got another E word?
The Communisaurus. D for Data Nerd. Community data can be overwhelming. Embrace your inner data nerd. Instincts tell part of the story, data builds a complete picture. Look at data regularly for trends and use then in your conversations. What other Ds should be on my list?
The Communisaurus. C is for Curiosity. Curious minds never stop listening or learning. Pay attention to your organization’s goals & challenges and talk to colleagues about how community can help. Learn from other professionals, evaluate new tools and look for efficiency.
The Communisaurus. 🅱️ is for Belief. As Ted Lasso might say belief is essential for success. Having a core belief in the work you do and the value it brings will get you through even the most challenging days. Look after this superpower every day. What other 🅱️ words help you?
When in doubt, just be yourself.
People can tell who is and isn't authentic and you are doing yourself a major disservice by trying to be like someone else.
The Communisaurus. 🅰️ is for Authenticity. You will always do your best work when you are authentically yourself. Authenticity leads to better connections and conversations. Don’t try and be something you’re not, it won’t make anyone happy, least of all you. What are other As?
Reminder:
"Organic" =/= "magic."
Organic just means you didn't directly pay money for something.
No community engagement happens by magic—you have to work for it.
What happens when you combine Community and Thesaurus? The Communisauras! Each week, running A-Z, I’ll share a relatable word for common Community builder skills or habits and explain why. I’d love to hear other word suggestions as I go along. Next week I will start with A.
@NicoleinMadison Yup. Used this metaphor a lot last year. Added help people get orientated in venue, introduce people/ice breakers, make sure music, food and drink keep flowing. All the things!
Community Hub: A new way to connect & be heard 📢
Have a suggestion Strava NEEDS to know about? Want to talk about a new integration? The Community Hub is the space where you can participate in discussions, vote on ideas and access exclusive* content:

@Max_Pete I have been grappling with this concept recently. I am trying to think of it more like creating space and opportunity for others. If I do everything myself then I’m not giving others space to grow. Doing this also frees me to grow in the space my manager creates. #growthcircles
@Max_Pete Big fan of post views. If you ask me honestly how much content I read vs participate in I’d say 70/30. If only real life books had a like button!
