#Digitaltwins are key instruments for a digital #water governance. At the same time, #data need to be accessible and interoperable.
💡Key message from the 1st panel discussion on technical challenges in #digital solutions - here at the #IDEATION multistakeholder forum.
Our Research Assist. Prof. DemetrisEliades @eldemet, participated as a key panel speaker at the Strategic Business Forum on Water, organized by the @EU_Commission in Brussels, emphasizing that smart water management is essential for resilience.

@chrysalisleap Our @KIOSCoE Research Assistant Professor, Dr. Demetris Eliades @eldemet will talk about new technologies and tools used to address water scarcity in Cyprus.
Together with Marios @_mariosmsk_ we presented PathoINVEST, an innovative technology to help first responders assess the risk during contamination events and isolate its source, based on the work we did in @pathoCERT .
❗️Happening now! Join us at the Research Results Exhibition, as part of the 9th Innovation & Entrepreneurship Forum, organized by the UCY Center for Entrepreneurship @ucy_c4e with the support of @PwC_Cy_Press.
I was amazed by the level of resilience and the use of technologies employed by the participating countries, as well as the scale of emergencies countries in Asia need to be able to respond to. I believe there is a lot to learn through these international forums.
It was a great honor to be invited to present our work on "Technologies for responding to pathogen contamination emergencies" at the Asian Conference on Disaster Reduction 2024 (#ACDR2024) in Vietnam, under the thematic "Enhancing Flood and Flash Flood Risk Information"
During my presentation, I introduced various results from EU projects, such as digital twins for emergencies, drone-based technologies for situational awareness, smart sensors, and alternative telecommunication systems, in case of digital breakdowns.
The event was co-organised by PHOEBE Research and Innovation Ltd, KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence @KIOSCoE@UCYOfficial , and the Limassol District Local Government Organisation, in the framework of the Horizon Europe @WaterverseEU and @IDEATION_eu projects
Last week we organized a Multi-stakeholder forum in Larnaca, Cyprus, with more than 40 participants from public and semi-public organizations and companies responsible for different aspects of the water cycle, to discuss the need for #digital_twins and #data_spaces
Proposal:
1️⃣ Establish Water Data Spaces in Cyprus for data sharing.
2️⃣ Expanding Digital Twin capabilities for dynamic, risk-based water management under new EU guidelines.
3️⃣ Setting Unified Technical Specs for tenders on Water Data Platforms & Digital Twins.
🔝Here we are at the 🇨🇾 Joint Multi-Stakeholder Forum for our @WaterverseEU & @IDEATION_eu projects in Cyprus! This forum follows our productive two-day @WaterverseEU plenary meeting.
💡 Today, partners from both projects are on stage, sharing insights from their impactful work.
I also presented the Python toolkit epyt-flow, developed as part of @WaterFuturesERC, which supports parallel simulation and is, therefore, suitable for running massive Monte Carlo Simulations within HPC environments.
Last week I had the opportunity to present the topic "Smart Water Network Research: Opportunities of HPC applications" at the EuroCC-2 Event: “HPC in Cyprus Research" at the Cyprus Institute.
High-performance computing can significantly impact the running of millions of simulations, solving computational/artificial intelligence problems, creating machine learning data, and running surrogate network models for water quality and hydraulics.
The @KIOSCoE at the @UCYOfficial is seeking a Director of Administration. 💼
The ideal candidate should have strong #leadership skills and a passion for managing a fast-paced, dynamic research environment efficiently.
