@wealthmoose And it’s not even an election year coming up… just wait til then if you want to see some serious vote pandering. This is just the appetizer.
@nanrob3942@Smileyyeg I’ll assume your answer to my question is “no.” given how tactfully you evaded answering it.
I don’t ever expect the left and right in Canada to agree on much, but bailouts for developers that gambled and lost should be an easy one. It’s sad the tribalism has gotten this bad.
@nanrob3942@Smileyyeg Instead of an explanation how about a thought experiment:
If Poilievre was the PM and Conservatives in power, would you be okay with them unilaterally deciding to purchase a bunch of condos from a developer that’s also a friend and party donor?
@KatlynHarrison People didn’t actually think a very rich businessman delayed his retirement to play politics because he actually gives a sh- about the lives of Canadians did they? His priorities are his and his friends’ wealth and his actions to date demonstrate that pretty clearly.
@jgib44 Yeah that makes perfect sense. Two causes that raise fuel prices above a normal baseline but only one causes inflation. The one that can be blamed on external factors, conveniently enough.
@PennyKuz@toronto_morning How about before that you fucking retard? That’s an April news release for an action whose effects won’t be felt for months. “Live in reality” you got that right at least.
@Stephjd420 It was a bailout for the developers but moreso for the banks.. but it’d be unpopular for them to admit that and Canadians aren’t smart enough to connect the dots. So here we are.
@CanadianModera1 Yeah highest wages and lowest taxes in the entire country is a real burden to bare. If you’re struggling in Alberta you’re going to struggle everywhere.. you have a YOU problem not a govt problem.
@JimboStanford Crazy how carbon taxes artificially inflating fuel prices was never a driver of grocery prices but somehow higher fuel prices due to the Iran conflict are.
Make sure you explain the difference when you’re on the completely unbiased and neutral CBC News eh?
@DavidColetto It won’t have an impact on government approval because Liberal voters don’t care about reality.
Part of them cares only about their tribe.
The other part cares only about keeping a government in power that will bring their entire family and villages over to join them.
@ronmortgageguy This is just a “technical” increase in inflation, it’s not real inflation.
…isn’t that right Liberal voters? Is this the correct way to carry water for the govt?
@DavidColetto Absolute load of bs... "We need to immigrate more people to generate tax revenue to cover the costs of all the people we're immigrating." That's a ponzi scheme.
Cut wasteful spending, shrink the government, balance the budget, then re-assess.
@EvanLSolomon Also the government: "But before that data is deleted we're just going to take a look at it to umm you know, make sure it's actually deleted! We'll also save a copy for our records to compare against any data that might surface later.. to protect you!"
@CTVNews Spending on foreign aid, politician expense accounts, debt servicing, bloated social programs: GOOD
Spending on the democratic process to let the people have a voice: BAD
