This is my aloe vera plant. We make sure not to water the plant too much and that the soil we use is not regular gardening soil, but a soil that has perlite in it! #apesland@franklinlorax
A lot of the plants that are in my house need different things to grow. For example, one of these plants grows best with clay pebbles that improve permeability. Others use potting soil with humus to give the plants nutrients! @franklinlorax#apesland
Fuel for our cars gets mined. This is my car and it needs crude oil and other petroleum liquids to run. Those liquids are mined most often from the ground. #apesland@franklinlorax
I saw that this was USDA organic certified. Because it’s organic the farmers prohibit pesticides, antibiotics, synthetic fertilizers, and genetically modified organisms in this crop. This is better for health, but it is a more difficult form of farming. #apespop@franklinlorax
I looked up the brand of these strawberries to see if they grew their foods using GMOs. Turns out they are USDA certified organic berries, which means there won’t be risk of bad health conditions from GMO foods! #apespop@franklinlorax
My parents had 2 kids. This is similar to the USA’s 2022 total fertility rate, which was roughly 1.7 kids per woman. In MDC’s, education and cultural trends lead to smaller families. In less developed Nigeria, the average family has 5.31 kids! #apespop@franklinlorax
wisconsin is a temperate deciduous forest biome because we experience 4 different distinct seasons- one of them being winter. #apesecology#apeseco@franklinlorax
This is my dog, and dogs are K- selected species. Meaning that there are few to each litter but they have a very high survival rate. @franklinlorax#apeseco
Recently, we went to the Oak Creek Water Treatment Plant. We learned that they try to keep water safe as it travels to our homes and to other businesses, by making sure the water has low chemical disinfectant levels so it is safer for us to drink and use. #apeswater
The Root River runs through this pond that is in Whitnall park. It has an area of 16 acres, and has a maximum depth of 10 feet, which is good for the aquatic life in this pond in the winter. #apeswater#franklinlorax
