@DrewVento Eh, some people are genuinely smart but just have a very deep seated way about them that makes them unlikable and people not want to give them opportunities, and which can’t be changed simply by knowing on paper how to change it. Autism being an example.
@BaseCentrist@BasedIllinoisan No. There is much more polarization now than there was then, and also Paxton’s scandals are somewhat less severe than Moore’s
@VexedVortices@Dude36509305@CNLiberalism Yeah, that’s the problem. Any generalization obviously sheds light on how one would approach individual cases even if it’s not directly about particular individuals
If these are truly non-normative expectations and you’d have absolutely no negative thoughts toward nonwhite men who prefer white women, then your arguments would make sense. However, in your original reply you just mentioned putting white women on a pedestal out of nowhere. So in your particular case it’s pretty clear it *is* a normative expectation, since you can’t read minds and you’ve invariably made this assumption in cases where it isn’t justified. If you actually care about respecting people you just shouldn’t align with this expectation at all.
@VexedVortices@Dude36509305@CNLiberalism But this particular expectation isn’t a rational response to descriptive facts because sexual preferences are innate and it is impossible to force someone to prefer their own race. We’re not required to take irrational expectations seriously no matter how common they are
