Okay fellow data scientists. Can we all agree to code NHK the same despite the name changes? We did it when the DPJ pulled that "we're actually the DP now." I believe in us.
Japan's NHK Party has deployed a new attention-catching gimmick for this month's Nishi-Tokyo City Council election. They are endorsing candidates from the new "Female Politicians 48 Party"(Seijika Joshi 48 to), described as "idols" who can sing & dance. https://t.co/IQbz5seLEJ
@YusakuHoriuchi I understand on a social and institutional level why America gets to be the default. But scientifically, it's pretty stupid. No one ever asks "Why America?" even though America is often the bigger outlier!
@laderafrutal Not gonna lie, that would really help my research agenda--Japan MMM versus USA MMM basically writes itself! Terrible, terrible idea though.
@laderafrutal Saying "voting system" and calling it a day is like referring to dinner as utensil time. Sure those things get the food where it needs to go, but it's oddly specific.
@observingjapan This is SO bizarre. I did some digging and I can't find past statements from Mike Lee about this let alone Japan in general. It's out of nowhere! Did he have some bad sushi? Upset that he will probably die before One Piece is finished?
Obviously I'm biased, but I agree with this 100%. Students want to learn about Asia! Every time I get the chance to offer an Asian or Japan politics class, I have full enrollment--and these classes easily have the most engagement out of all the topics I teach.
200+ political scientists are telling Congress to fix our failed winner-take-all system: “It has effectively extinguished competitive elections for most Americans, and produced a deeply divided political system.” https://t.co/meIZtCJYxX
