This will not be coming soon to a North Carolina near you.
The right to hunt and fish was enshrined in the state constitution in 2018 (see link below). #ncpol
BREAKING: The NC House voted 73-46 Wednesday to override Gov. Josh Stein's veto of HB 87, the Educational Choice for Children Act, which would opt NC into a new federal tax-credit scholarship program created under Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
It now heads to the Senate.

Both Cooper and Whatley have a net favorable rating, but over half of all voters either have not heard of Whatley or have no opinion of him. In that situation, the challenger tends to pick up most undecided voters.
Here is more on the "incumbent rule."

As I have noted before on WWNC 570 (Tuesday mornings around 8:43), this is Cooper's 7th statewide race. He is, in effect, an incumbent facing a relatively unknown challenger.
In that situation, the question is whether he can crack 50% in the polls. He is close. #ncpol
7% → 3.5%. Senate Republicans are advancing a constitutional amendment to cut NC’s income tax cap in HALF and protect against future tax hikes. If passed, Lower Taxes for All NC heads to voters in November 2026. #ncpol#ncga
"If implemented, Justice Berger’s [judicial code] proposal would protect the free speech rights of judges and judicial candidates while also protecting the due process rights of people who may later have a case before them. It would be a welcome reform."

As I have previously noted, Jefferson Griffin has been "proven right on every legal issue he raised in his lawsuit," but not the timing.

Affordability is top of mind for families across our state—and energy costs are a big part of that.
This article from WSOC-TV breaks down the Energy & Housing Affordability Act (HB 1192), which I filed last week.
Right now, families pay 100% of fuel cost increases through their utility bills. This bill ensures utilities share in that risk, so when prices spike, you’re not the only one footing the bill.
It also encourages large energy users (like data centers) to generate their own power, and it invests in workforce housing.

"Making sure North Carolina residents know where to go online to find and file judicial forms, search court records, and more is crucial," said Library of NC Director Michelle Underhill. "We are honored to partner and share the resources available through the 'Justice for All | Access for You' program with libraries." A massive loss for journalism in NC. @AP is losing the best in the business with institutional knowledge of #NCPOL that is second to none. It was a privilege to work with Gary the 15 years I did media relations in Congress and the #NCGA. Always tough but fair and professional.
