A little time-lapse of me lettering dialog and sound fx on manga (vol 6 of Golosseum, out next March). I wish I could actually work this fast. Think of the time I’d save!

Since I deleted some, THIS is now my 3500th tweet. 🎊
(All the cool kids remaining here, please come to bsky and feel free to add me over there. I really want to fully unZυck/unMυsk my online life, plus this site wrecks my attention-span.)
Some of my very talented friends (and little old me as well!) were interviewed for an article on the work and lives of manga letterers. Go check out Isaiah's article for a great write-up of an important part of the manga localization process!
Manga lettering, like composting in animation, is a job that's often overlooked despite its importance to translating a work of art. I spoke with some manga letterers about what the job entails and challenges the mostly freelance pool of typographers face.

In closing, 2024 was a pretty good year for me, work-wise. It's getting harder & harder each year to stay afloat financially without working super brutal hours, but I enjoy my work and that's important.
Let's all hang in there in 2025.☮️
Happy new year! あけましておめでとう!
Well, it's a wrap on 2024, so here's my manga lettering year in review. It was a really busy and often stressful year, but I worked on some very special books and had some unique experiences! I'll highlight them in the next few posts... 🧵
2024 was my first time attending Anime NYC! I was invited to join a panel of my fellow manga letterers, and it was really fun. I finally met a bunch of cool folks I've been wanting to meet IRL for a long while now & saw some old friends I hadn't seen in years too.
