#pe#dotnet#reversing#malware
Over the past couple years, I have come to know the #dotnet platform pretty well, from a developer's and a #reversing standpoint.
I can’t always say the same the #infosec community.
Today, I decided to rant a little (or maybe a lot 🙃)

After #flareon11 challenge 7, I got inspired to build tooling for #dotnet Native AOT reverse engineering.
As such, I built a #Ghidra Analyzer that can automatically recover most .NET types, methods and frozen objects (e.g., strings).

@GitHub In what world would I need an AI to view my pull requests?
It's 10x slower than this other button we've had since forever, which probably just does a database query (as it should!)
What an absolute waste of programming time, resources and compute power.
@Nihilistic2021 Unfortunately, I can’t pinpoint an exact time as I was doing other things in the meantime (most notably school). It was by far the hardest challenge though. Good luck with it!
After many hours and days of struggling, I'm finally done with #flareon11! Thanks to the FLARE team for this set of occasionally painful and educational challenges. Definitely learned some new stuff this year!
Looking forward to next year!
I find this promotion odd
ByteHide (formerly DotNetSafer) makes promises that I find hard to believe w/ features as "military-grade obfuscation" and very misleading comparisons with their competitors..
Oh and apparently using their obfuscator makes your product GDPR compliant🧐
@JerpaDerpa In extreme cases where settings or other dnSpy configuration files are corrupted, you can force dnSpy to skip loading them by holding down the Shift key when starting dnSpy and clicking 'No' on the message box that appears. This is equivalent to deleting the files.

@ghidraninja@marunmagesh Backups on IOS have always been iffy. For my latest phone, I decided to go through the entire "bring your new and old phone together" thing and do the transfer wirelessly through that feature. Everything, including the things backups excluded, was transferred flawlessly for me.
New year, new dnSpyEx version! The first release candidate of dnSpyEx 6.5.0 is now available for download.

Just received my first ever Flare-On award from #flareon9! Massive thanks to @nickharbour and the rest of the FLARE team for such a fun contest! Looking forward to the award from this year!
After many hours of struggling, I've finally completed #flareon10! The challenges were definitely harder than last year! Massive thanks to the FLARE team for these, sometimes painful, challenges. See you next year!
