No, Ma’am. Opposing your budget proposal doesn’t make us the enemy of the state.

It is alarming to hear that the second highest official of the country would throw statements like that -to make matters worse? It was a prepared speech.

1. We are also for peace and order. Why do you think we support reallocation of the confidential funds of the OVP and DepEd to the government agencies whose mandate and expertise are of that nature?

It is an acknowledgement that peace and order and national secruity are important hence we should give them more funding. Are you saying that you are the solution? That without you the government cannot end insurgency? Then how about the situation in the West Philippine Sea then?

2. Ma’am, you are not the Secretary of National Defense nor the PNP Chief . If we do not agree with your proposed confidential funds for the OVP and DepEd, that has nothing to do with our support of the government’s peace and order/ natural security initiatives/ program.

I, personally, support the efforts of the NTF-ELCAC, NSC, NICA, DND and AFP.

3. Ma’am, the recent World Bank assessment of our education system still say that despite the return of face to face classes, our learning poverty is still 90%. That 9 out 10 learners cannot read and write at the age of 10. Aren’t you bothered at all?

We would like to see the Secretary of Education focused on that because that is the mandate of her office -that’s the number one problem that she should be addressing.

Besides, all available literature about insurgency and terrorism say the same thing… education and poverty alleviation will lessen or eradicate insurgency. By doing your solely your job, you are already helping the cause a lot.

4. Again- you are asking for an unprecedented amount of funding in a year of budget deficits, budget cuts and unprogrammed appropriations. Funds whose utilization is not open for public scrutunity… every Filipino has the right to ask questions and concerns about that.

Do not tag us as the enemy just because we do not agree with you.
