“The power of stable isotopes has meant that we can use them in a wide range of applications, from understanding where fish go, where they eat, what they eat, up to reconstructing human lives thousands of years ago. So it just shows the utility of the method." @chris_harrod
This week, we're at the University of Groningen for #JESIUM2025 (the Joint European Stable Isotope Users Meeting), which is possibly the world's biggest dedicated stable isotope meeting.
If you’re there, speak to the team to win one of five Elementar branded lab coats!
This week we've been enjoying talking to customers at EGU in Vienna, discussing the analytical challenges around biomass, biochar, and soil analysis.
We're here until Friday, so come and see the team at booth 4!

This week we've been attending #GGRiP2025 at the University of Birmingham. The event covers topics such as palaeoclimates, fluid-rock interactions, mountain belt evolution, biomineral organics and micropalaeontology.
Pop by the booth and say hello to Jon and Raeesah!
We're looking forward to attending the British Society of Soil Science Annual Conference next month in Cardiff.
Come along to the Elementar table to speak to Jon and Calum. 👋

Tomorrow we'll be at @LABINNOVATIONS at the NEC in Birmingham. You'll find us on stand H34.
Come and say hello if you are attending! The team will be well stocked with brownies and information on our product range. #LabInnovations
Last month, we hosted a user meeting for anyone working with stable isotope analysis.
We want to thank everyone who gave their time to attend and make presentations. These events rely on your contributions to make them a success.
Check out the video to see how it went! 👇
That’s a wrap! Thanks to everyone who attended our IRMS User Meeting in Manchester over the past two days.
We really appreciate everyone who offered up their time to talk about their work with stable isotopes.
Today, @AndiSmith10 from the @BritGeoSurvey kicked off day two of our IRMS User Meeting.
He talked us through how they use their (eight!) Elementar IRMS systems and peripherals, highlighting the modifications and novel techniques they use.
A big thank-you to Rachel Petts @MuseumInsight and all @McrMuseum for letting us sample the #pangolin collection for #stableisotope analysis.
Also looking forward to the @elementarIRMS user meeting here tomorrow!
More excellent talks this afternoon from @fotis_sgour: Using the isoFLOW GHG to detect 15N2 field
denitrification fluxes
Ben Jackson: Plant Soil Systems at the University of Edinburgh
Calum Preece: LyticOS Software Suite Workshop
Thanks to everyone who has contributed!
Our next keynote is from @rpancost from @UoBEarthScience. His talk is on ‘Expanding the GC-IRMS analytical window to higher temperatures and more complex biomolecules’. #IRMS
Next up is our first keynote, @chris_harrod from @UofGSBOHVM. He is discussing how stable isotopes can help to solve the Rumsfeld Matrix in ecology, covering everything from the ‘known knowns’ to the ‘unknown unknowns’.
Very happy to be in Manchester to represent @sceneUofG and @UofGSBOHVM at the @elementarIRMS user group meeting
Talking about the power of isotopes to understand what fish and ancient peoples do/did.
Thanks to @HarrodLab and @FranSantanaS for sharing data/hard work.
Have you registered for our IRMS User Meeting? It's now less than a month away.
We have two confirmed keynotes from @chris_harrod and @rpancost as well as some excellent presentations from stable isotope researchers & the Elementar UK team.
