Inspired by @donntobin & @thepespecialist, I thought I'd share some strategies that work well with us using the hashtag #ICIH (in case it helps).
This tip is about how body language, facial expressions, & non-verbal com are all important. #physed

It's summer break. For some reason though, I find myself reflecting and just wanting to improve. Maybe finishing virtual presentions for both @EPEWCP & @IAHPERD helped inspire me...🤔 #physed
"Line Your Manners" from @MrSpringPE is SO powerful!🙌
Beyond locomotors, S1.E1, Ss learned/applied..
- Relationship building🫂
- Problem solving🤝
- Empathy❤️
- Facial expression/tone of voice😃
- Making others feel valued
"What interaction was most memorable & why?" #physed
3 person kickball ⚽ never disappoints!
Main foot 👣 skills unit was in the fall, & now we spiral 🔄 back to review/expand on previous concepts in a "mini unit."
Rolling, kicking, fielding.
100% engagement.👍
Must kick between cones set up in a🔻. #physed S1.E21.5 @pecentral
After demo of activity...
"What challenges do you predict might occur in this activity?"
"What are some solutions/ways to handle them if they arise? Role play w/ partner, taking turns providing solutions." (I demo first)
Being proactive helps, along w/ role play. #ICIH#physed
No better way to cap off our #physed Gymnastics unit while also generating lead up language connected to cardiovascular endurance right before Rope Jumping. We’re no doubt blessed to have this equipment, and it’s so fun to cut them lose in a student favorite, “Royal Tumble”.
Just for fun...
What is the skill you are most confident demonstrating/teaching?
What about the biggest struggle?
Most improved?
For me...
Most confident - Overhand throwing
Least confident - Hula Hooping⭕
Most improved - Cartwheel🤸♂️

"Walk and Talks" today with various partners...
"How do you best contribute to your family?" (value you bring & how it makes you feel)
"If you were the principal, how would you improve our school?" (realistic, support your argument)
"What are you most proud of & why?" #physed
Teaching can hard, frustrating, and overwhelming. These kind notes can make it all worth it, though.☺️
Shoutout @CandaceYoung37 as I stole her quote, and now my students use it. 😉👇 #TeacherAppreciationWeek
SPIN THE PIN TAG- Ss are put into groups of 4-5. 1 ss spins the pin. If the pin lands on you, you grab tag stick and try to tag someone in your group. Once a ss is tagged, everyone returns and the pin is spun again. Tons of running and fun. Idea from @JDkeepmovin#physed
My thoughts on @TheOllyBall…very good overall experience. Mylar balloon on inside is easy to blow up. 12” Ball is lighter than a beachball but heavier than a balloon. Durable too (had all my #physed classes use them for a week & they all survived). Highly recommended.
Our "walk & talk" was..
"What quality do you most appreciate in teachers, that help you be a better person?"
"Mrs.. was the best. She was hard on us, but also kind. She wanted us to be great." I immediately texted that teacher.
Spread kindness, even when they aren't present.😊
Besides demonstrating with the blue one below, I also tell them it's "level 2" because it falls faster. It's true, but also a trick to get them not to be picky. #ICIH#physed@HouselPhysEd
Whenever I demonstrate, I use the "worst" or most worn down equipment.
I mention to students that I'm lucky enough to even have a ball to use.
In turn, they start better appreciating what they have as well.🙏
Thanks @JoeyFeith for the visual! #physed#gratitude#thankful
