It’s been 2 years since I originally posted this piece on @bloommilteens about my family’s journey with housing insecurity and the BAH…and the discussion about BAH is once again becoming relevant! Here’s to hoping @DeptofDefense implements a 100% BAH.

My family was kicked out of our house and struggled to find a home in the current market within our BAH. We have a house now, thank goodness, but we still pay a rent that is WELL above our BAH for a house that just barely fits our family.

Today’s shooting in Louisville marks the fourth time this semester I’ve frantically had to text loved ones, asking if they were safe from a shooting in their area. Checking to see if my loved ones are safe from a shooting shouldn’t be a part of my monthly routine.
