With great sorrow, we learnt about Patrick Hanks who failed to recover from long COVID and passed away yesterday, February 1st, 2024. Patrick was a leading character in lexicography for several decades, a promoter of the Corpus Pattern Analysis (https://t.co/GQERCelkYJ) as well as one of our intellectual godfathers during his long-term collaboration with Adam Kilgarriff, the founder of Sketch Engine. R.I.P. Patrick.
