Today, Eunwoo completed 60% of his military service, and I found myself thinking back to this day.

I remember Jinjin’s words: “I’m worried that Eunwoo will get hurt by pushing himself too hard like this. It’s hard for him not to give his best; it’s part of his personality.” And I think that concern was shared by all of us. Because we know him. He would never choose the easier path. He would never accept privileges or special treatment, even if it were allowed. It’s part of who he is to give his best, even when no one is watching.

When the first photos of him came out, I zoomed in on every single one, looking for any scratch, bruise, or injury. I needed to see if he was okay.
And looking at this video today, I understand exactly what Jinjin meant. I see someone who was about to face a great challenge and, even so, was smiling. Joking around. Trying to reassure the people around him, even though he was probably the one who needed comfort.

Today, as he completes 60% of this journey, I think that the concern we felt in that first moment never completely disappeared, but there is a sense of relief in looking back and seeing that he has made it through more than half of this journey without losing the strength, dedication, and kindness that have always been part of who he is.

Sixty percent may seem like just a number, but for those who are waiting, it means a lot. It means that most of the road is already behind him and that the reunion is getting closer and closer.
