RIP Marjane Satrapi, a brilliant mind and a wonderful soul, gone far too soon. Like many Iranians she remained dedicated to her homeland despite decades in exile:
“I call Iran home because no matter how long I live in France, and despite the fact that I feel also French after all these years, to me the word ‘home’ has only one meaning: Iran.”
“No matter how much I am in love with Paris and its indescribable beauty, Tehran with all its ugliness will in my eyes forever be the ‘bride’ of all cities around the world.”

If you wanted to damage American credibility in the Gulf in a single sentence, "we'll have to blow them up" would be hard to beat. #Trump's comments about #Oman Wednesday were extraordinary, and given Oman's long role in U.S. diplomacy with Iran, remarkably self-defeating.
When U.S.-Iran diplomacy has come close to collapse in the past, #Oman has usually been the one country both sides could still talk through. Even earlier this year, #Muscat was reportedly involved in efforts to prevent further escalation between #Washington and #Tehran. That role did not emerge overnight. For decades, Oman has carefully built trust with all sides by staying quiet, pragmatic, and avoiding the kind of public posturing that dominates regional politics elsewhere.
The Strait of #Hormuz will eventually reopen. But statements like this tend to linger much longer in the region's political memory. In the long history of American missteps in the Middle East, openly threatening an ally will likely be remembered as a particular failure of U.S. statecraft.
Dehumanizing language is not just rhetoric. It can make war crimes easier to justify.
At the UN Security Council, ICRC president, warned that when people are portrayed as less than human, the limits meant to prevent atrocities begin to collapse.

„People’s lives have thus been reduced to a state of anxious waiting and one haunting question: whose name will appear on the next list? Who will wake up a citizen and go to sleep stripped of their legal identity?…“ #Kuwait https://t.co/nuNYZZ81Z8

#WesamQaid leaves a clear vision: invest in people. Through SMEPS and the Social Fund, he backed farmers, artisans, and women entrepreneurs—turning small projects into livelihoods. That vision endures. #Yemen#Development
The assassination of #WesamQaid in #Aden is a profound loss—and a warning. Following the killing of Abdulrahman #AlShaer, it reflects rising insecurity. Not only state fragility: if such attacks form a pattern, they may signal renewed #SaudiArabia–#UAE rivalry mediated locally
