Israel is methodically crippling or outright wiping out all Iranian bases outside Iran. After taking out Hamas, Assad, Hezbollah and the Russian presence in Syria, Houthi positions in Yemen were targeted. It appears that Israel is preparing for a major strike against the mullah regime, at some point in 2025.

We know that the incoming Trump administration will follow an hawkish approach against the mullah regime in Tehran. It is certain that Netanyahu is only waiting for that moment. He will not have it difficult to persuade Trump that in its weakened form the chances to remove the Islamist regime in Tehran has never been greater.

So many are anxious to know how Trump is going to tackle the situation in Ukraine. But due to the complexity of the situation, it poses a big risk for Trump, especially when he cannot achieve tangible results in a short period of time. Compared to Ukraine, Iran might be an easier challenge, and unlike as in the case of Ukraine there is little opposition within Republican ranks to change the trajectory. The Republican Party is almost unanimous in its conviction that the mullah regime has overstayed its existence.

The fall of Assad has immensely changed the power structures in this region. The Iranian umbrella (also known as the Shia crescent) is broken. The Russian air defense which controlled Syrian airspace is gone. Before, Israel had to coordinate with Russians the attacks in order to avoid unwanted confrontations. That gave Iran enough warning time, at least for their home bases in Iran.

This is gone for good. The gate to strike Iran, directly, is wide open, and it is too inviting to ignore. Taking out the head of the so-called "axis of resistance", the mullah regime in Iran, would eliminate a major threat in the region and in the world. It will also severely weaken the Russian state, which would lose its entire southern flank and cut off the Putin state entirely from the Middle East and Africa.

Another clear sign that Iran is running into huge problems is its ongoing energy crisis. As the New York Times mentioned in the beginning of 2024, Israel has targeted Iranian pipelines even back then. This came on top of the decay of the Iranian energy infrastructure. By the end of 2024, this resulted into major brownouts across the country. Despite its large hydrocarbon reserves, Iran is increasingly in the dark, a fate already well known from Venezuela.

But unlike Venezuela, Iran is facing with Israel an opponent at its gate which is hellbent to take out the Islamic regime, and it has been doing this with absolute conviction since October 7, 2023. Let us be clear here, Israel wants to bring down the perpetrators of this massacre down, and they will go to Tehran and Moscow to complete that mission. The swift fall of Assad has exposed how hollow the the backing of dictators is, and Iran has been barely able in fending off popular uprisings for 15 years. A major strike against the nerve centers of the Islamist regime might be and probably is all what it is needed to tilt the entire system.

The year 2025 is going to be decisive for many major conflicts in the world. We are at the crossroads whether authoritarian regimes might expand or fall apart, altogether. The reluctance and timidness of Western governments have been so far their greatest luck and the only reason why they made it this far, but again, as seen as in Syria, this might change very fast and suddenly the Iranian people on the streets will finally overthrow their unpopular regime.

This unique opportunity, Israel will not let go to waste, and with the mullahs in Tehran removed, the real endgame in Moscow will happen. Without Iran, Russia will be even more vulnerable as it is already. Focusing then the attention on the war in Ukraine makes more sense, because it comes after laying the foundation to dictate Russia terms, which btw. will eventually lead to a complete collapse of the Russian empire, once and forever. It will paraphrase that no negotiations will bring peace when dealing with the mullah regime in Tehran or Putin Moscow, but absolute hardball politics. This is the only language dictatorships understand. Period.

Russia most likely fired a RS-26 „Rubezh“ ICBM against the Ukrainian city of Dnipro at 5am local time. The launch site was presumably Astrakhan. The warheads were non-nuclear. The accuracy of this missile is 90m-250m CEP and for conventional strikes absolutely inaccurate, though judging from this video it seems more to be like a CEP of 500-1000m. Even hitting an object such as football stadium is a gamble.

But accuracy is not the point. Terror is the point. Just like a terrorist with its suicide vest, Russia wants to deliver random violence. It is irrelevant that those missiles hit hospitals, schools and kindergartens. In the contrary, hitting those civilian facilities just strengthen the terror character and drive people from their homes, if they survive the attack. Refugee streams are just another weapon against the West, and an effective one.

I warned for decades that you cannot reason with the Kremlin. Russia proves once again that it is the largest terrorist entity in the world. Appeasement enabled Russia to become what it is and it is time to correct that mistakes. You don’t negotiate with terrorists, you respond with deadly force, in order to make sure that this will not come to your home. It is only the latest episode which show that no treaty or even ceasefire is going to change that fact.
