NEW: William Ruto has appointed Kiraitu Murungi as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK).

Let's be honest, this looks like a political appointment aimed at winning support from a section of Mt. Kenya amid the UDA divisions.

But one appointment won't change the lives of 99.9% of Meru residents. Kiraitu will earn a salary; ordinary people will still be dealing with the same economic challenges.

More importantly, Kenya needs reforms on these appointments. The President's appointment powers should largely be limited to the Cabinet.

Filling boards and parastatals with political allies gives the ruling party an unfair advantage and turns public offices into political rewards instead of merit-based positions.

@sholard_mancity It’s just funny, that they are appointing someone who has done all he needed to do with his life but leaving the young people to languish in unemployment. It’s just sad, I wonder who they are making Kenya a first world country for without young people.
