There’s something so beautiful about watching life turn around for people whose struggles you witnessed firsthand.
Especially when you know how good their hearts are, and how unkind the world has sometimes been to them.
I just saw some pictures of someone I know, and I couldn’t help but smile.
Let me tell you a story.
You see, I knew this young man when he was hustling in Ghana. I saw some of his struggles, I knew some of the things he went through, and I saw how people sometimes treated him like he was nothing.
He was a genuinely good person.
At a certain point in my life, when I was going through some difficult moments, he was one of the few people I knew I could trust. He was kind, thoughtful, respectful, and always willing to help.
Then one day, he met a woman who had travelled to Ghana, and they fell in love.
Now, this is where the story gets beautiful.
Against all odds, and even in the face of resistance from family, this woman stood by him.
She saw something in him that perhaps many others had failed to see. She believed in him, fought for their love, and worked incredibly hard to bring him to America so they could build a life together.
And within a year of moving, they were blessed with beautiful twins.
Every time I see pictures of this little family, I smile.
Because I remember where this young man is coming from. I remember the struggles. I remember how some people looked down on him. And I remember the goodness of his heart, even when life wasn’t particularly kind to him.
And now, to see him loved, happy, building a family and experiencing a completely different chapter of life, brings me so much joy.
I love stories like this.
I love seeing good things happen to good people. I love seeing people who have been through so much finally get a chance to experience the beautiful side of life.
May God continue to bless their beautiful family.
And may life be kind to all the good people out there who are still waiting for their own beautiful stories to unfold.
Sometimes, when you know someone’s journey, their happiness feels a little like your own. ❤️
