A 20-year-old phone seller, Olusola Olumide, has narrated how he crushed a police sergeant to death in Lagos.
While on stop and search duty along Olugbede Street in the Egbeda area of Lagos State, police officers signalled Olumide to stop.
He initially stopped but suddenly sped off as Sergeant Johnson Okediji approached the driver’s side. The officer was knocked down and dragged underneath the vehicle for several metres, despite repeated attempts by police officers and passers-by to make the driver stop.
The driver was eventually chased and arrested.
The officer sustained multiple fractures and head injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital and subsequently referred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

So I’ve been very reluctant to post about this, as it’s deeply personal, but about a week ago I converted to Christianity. I tried very hard to convince myself otherwise, but I kept having this nagging sensation that I couldn’t shake off, like someone was calling my name just out of earshot.
I’ve had very complicated feelings about God for as long as I can remember, and have gone back and forth between atheism and a deep anger for years, but for some reason the anger has disappeared. The world is still a mess, and the amount of suffering is still unfathomable, but instead of being angry at God, I’m feeling this…pull instead. Not towards any specific denomination, but towards Christ.
I’ve always been the kind of person who needs proof, and while I’ve wanted to believe for a long time, I was never able to get from “I wish there was a loving God” to actually believing in one. I don’t know what’s made the difference; there was no blinding moment of revelation. There’s just this call that I can’t ignore any longer. Every time things get quiet, I feel it tugging at me — gently but implacably.
I’ve been reading CS Lewis, and the first four books of the New Testament, and while I have no plans to start going to church, or to change the focus of this account, I’ve stopped trying to convince myself that I’m imagining things. I never expected to feel this way, but I do, and denying it any longer would be wrong.
intimacy, closeness, knowing and being known while also understanding Him as a parent.
so for me, the relationship is continuous regardless of the physical outcome it produces.
i can only trust Him that, somehow, all will be well in my lifetime and after it.
thank you very much for this. i really like the humanity pov because, honestly, most people are taught to expect some physical evidence that God is blessing them.
i’ve always approached my relationship with God almost like a romantic relationship,
I don’t like Posts like this, what if the pastor never “blows”. Is he permitted to give up? Is material wealth or “Glow Up” the proof of Gods faithfulness?
And of course, my life has changed in so many ways since I followed God. But what if it didn’t, am I permitted to give up?
@faytheniola@ThatPHCBoy at a reasonable price, fans go to everyone around them “i just bought something off the new collection, you should get one, let me show you”. even if it requires saving, they will buy.
but at this price? all the buzz and operating cost, for folks who might not rebuy or rewear?
@faytheniola@ThatPHCBoy i hear you, but think about it: most celebrity products have zero repurchase value. nobody wakes up needing a second one.
it’s not an everyday piece, and it’s not a “let me gift this” piece either. it’s like having the same top in different colors.
@faytheniola@ThatPHCBoy at 500k+ for two, why would anyone, celebrities included, buy it twice?
their colleagues? they can’t even repeat an outfit without the “fashion police” coming for them.
@Remmythe05@toyinscharles this is the truth. he did his wife plenty wrong. he did her badly. yes, it was for a good cause, but that doesn’t erase the fact that it came at the expense of other primary duties he owed her and their children.
i miss being able to sit alone in a church and just exist for a while. nobody asking if i’m looking for someone, nobody needing anything from me.
just a few minutes of silence where my mind isn’t already thinking about the next fire i need to put out.
just solemn silence.
Modern churches don’t open their doors anymore. Once they round up service, they lock everything up. What if I need a quiet place to go and talk to God? 😕
On my way back from the market, I noticed that some of the big churches in my area had their doors locked with padlocks.
Honestly, I don’t think this is right. A church is supposed to be a place people can run to when they need God not somewhere that is only accessible during service hours.
What if someone is going through something and just wants to sit quietly in the presence of God? What if they need to pray outside the scheduled service hours?
I understand security concerns, but there should be a way to balance security with accessibility. A church shouldn’t feel completely closed off once service is over.
