yeah, i know. what’d i do that for?

there’s more info on my site, but at such a pivotal moment in our industry, I thought I’d try to shed some light on things for young creatives.

Idk I’m also on strike so.

Man. I so respect the grind to build something new for the industry + the goal of uplifting underrepresented voices but …

Feels like this ain’t the way.

Long term very bullish on human first everything.

[Deadline @DEADLINE]

EXCLUSIVE: A new AI-powered platform called Wscripted+ has launched and its founders claim it will provide the industry with a fresh way to submit and review scripts.

“This is ethical AI and will boost female & underrepresented writers” said the founder

1/ #filmmakers I helped start a company built to make indie filmmaking easier.

It’s called Dolly. Link’s in bio. Oh, and it’s NOT AI video (ew).

1. We simplify expense management.
2. We’re completely free.
3. There are some opportunities to join the team…🧵

[Eli Stern @elimstern]

3/ I’m a freelancer. Personal financial planning is impossible (esp w/ industry as is).

I want Dolly to help with that. I want to continue building ways to help “smooth” income for freelancers…

[Eli Stern @elimstern]

@dmagillwrite @HwoodScrptReadr completely agree. Truby seems to be the one I come back to most.

Jake Hirabayashi’s versatility provided him with a brief opportunity that led to the creation of his Futures app.

@DanHayesMLB on how a platform enabling teams to create their own development environments was created by 10 formative minor-league days.

Reminder! I’m still doing (completely free!) mentorship through my site as well. This blog is really an extension of that — taking what I see and hear in those sessions and expanding on them.

If you know any creators-to-be, please send ‘em to https://t.co/ak5VV2B7Tv !

[Tom Pelissero @TomPelissero]

The #Bears are signing veteran TE Stephen Carlson to a one-year contract, sources tell me and @RapSheet. The former #Browns tight end worked out at Chicago’s minicamp this weekend.

100%. even in total CGI environments, have to anchor in a reality of that world, ie “if we had a spaceship with a camera attached, how would that look”.

[Brendan Hodges @metaplexmovies]

What the best directors of digital action understand, IE Lucas and Cameron, is how the virtual camera has to feel like a physical, weighted object reacting to the action. It can't be "floaty," or have impossible camera moves. This is one reason the prequels are aging like wine.

[Eli Stern @elimstern]

@tschrack @BlueCatScripts must. read. pls.

[Eli Stern @elimstern]

@JasonGruich your reads keep me going

[Eli Stern @elimstern]

@SethMSherwood this is sweet!!
A STEP AWAY FROM NOWHERE is a fantasy romcom about a downtrodden young mother who finds a portal to heaven and must choose between the love she’s found there and her life on earth.

[Eli Stern @elimstern]

this thing is….ridiculous. in the best way ever. i can feel @JasonGruich giggling to himself saying “f*** it” at the beg, middle, and end of every scene. such a blast to read, dude.

[Jason @JasonGruich]

In the year 2023, I have rediscovered the joy of writing and no one shall remove this joy from my grasp. Making the homies gush is goal #1 and only. New spec inbound, baby.
