ELD teacher in CUSD, passionate about equity, acronyms, and aphorisms. Are we educating beyond the expected, or only educating those who meet our expectations?
I hate when teachers say that they don't want to make their classroom political. G, everything in the room is political. The fact that your kids don't have pencils is political. The quality of your desks is political. The admin hired at your school is political...
Yesterday, USA Today published a hurtful piece from the unaccepting parent of a trans student. We issue this reminder in response: Above all, quality mentors trust that transgender youth know who they are and what they need. https://t.co/8YWN5KiTf8

@speer_teacher@stevimotheral Please don’t incentivize the 40 Book Challenge. I’ve spoken and written against the negative long term effects of reading incentives for years. What about book talking, conferring, & opportunities for students to share books with each other? Possible?
