The dissent: The majority is "acting at practically the first moment possible", "eliminates a 50-year-old contitutional right that safeuards women's freedom," "breaches a core rule-of-law principle," "places in jeopardy other rights," and "undermines the Court's legitimacy."
The 3 dissenters warn that more is coming. They write that the conservatives' approach in the Dobbs ruling "places in jeopardy other rights, from contraception to same-sex intimacy and marriage."
If keeping track, yesterday the Conservatives in the Supreme Court ruled against state rights regarding concealed weapons.
Today, they ruled in favor of state rights when it comes to women’s bodies.
They’re good with states regulating our uterus but not guns.
Nothing in the new CDC guidance has to do with avoiding illness. It’s about keeping the hospitals from being overwhelmed. That’s important and all but it’s really the absolute bare minimum. It is okay to want more! Like: staying healthy! Or if you’re not healthy, staying alive!
We don’t need any more commentators agonizing over why people are still (!!) wearing masks.
It’s to avoid getting sick.
Even if I’m 99.9% sure I’ll survive (not everyone is!), maybe I don’t wanna get sick? Or make others sick?
Not wanting to get sick is actually very normal!
