It seems there is a general attitude ...in authority... to protect the police at any cost.and convicting innocent people gets included!
There must be some blame attached to our legal system.

As you say, law is no longer the rule by which the police live.
They have been militarised, and behave more like a private army, than a force protecting the public.
The public...have become their enemy!
