@AlexiLalas Lots of cities (and small towns) have public-subsidized rec leagues and the red tide of socialism remains at bay. This is not the own you think it is, fields are not free but they are cheaper than you’d think.
@OrinocoBlow@Liv_Agar@LucyKwiatek Still a win as history records, and as the vast majority of people here will feel. Further, it never should have been a red. It’s categorically not cheating to correct a mistake.
@ettingermentum We’re all gonna watch the game this evening and cheer for our boys - All of our boys. You have the choice to do so, or to be miserable by choice. If we must win as the villains, then so be it.

@dilanesper Other countries bring the vuvuzelas, the cheering sections with marching bands, Haka, etc. our cultural asset is having the worlds finest lawyers. Shame to not be able to use them
@dilanesper Why do they suck? It would help us here, and I’m not sure I agree with you that process and lawyers are inherently bad (then again I’m a defense attorney so I struggle with red cards and ejections generally). Due process is a good thing when there are stakes!
@theoceanblooms@Missy_dee811 Thing is, if it’s a borderline call that could have gone either way, the broader picture (potentially affecting the results of the cup and spitting in the host nation’s face) should have meant it was a yellow
@NoGoodTweetz@mikejpagan@_Zeets That’s a fair perspective, generally, with sport. I come from baseball, where fan grousing does tend to (eventually) produce rule changes, most of which end up being popular when all is said and done
@dilanesper Ultimately the World Cup is a TV show/concert, put on by FIFA which is at the end of the day an entertainment business. It was a poor decision, assuming their priority is to grow their product in the US, to award this card if you had any way to avoid it. They did
