🏈Tennessee FILM ROOM WATCH LIST
Prospects to Watch
Five Tennessee prospects who caught my attention during this week's film study.
These are not rankings and are not intended to suggest players have been overlooked. Just five athletes whose tape stood out to me while studying Tennessee film.
⭐️Kaden Cantrell
@KadenCantrellx
Bradley Central High School
HB/TE/LB/WR
6'2.5 184 Lbs.
C/O 2028
Developing WR/TE whose combination of size, movement skills, and versatility consistently stands out on film. Carries his weight well while flashing impressive acceleration and long speed for his frame, creating mismatches from multiple alignments, including releases out of the backfield. Displays strong hand-eye coordination and concentration, routinely securing catches through traffic while adjusting naturally to off-target throws with impressive body awareness. Dangerous after the catch, showing the ability to contribute in the screen game while running with a physical, competitive mentality. Keeps his pads low, runs through arm tackles, and consistently fights for additional yardage, making him a versatile offensive weapon with value as both a receiver and move tight end.
⏱️ Favorite Rep (1:54): Aligned in the slot on a screen, he adjusts naturally to the football before showcasing his athletic profile, quickly getting vertical with the agility, body control, and competitiveness to make a defender miss and finish through contact for additional yardage.

⭐️John Painter
@JohnPainter_1
Memphis University School
@CoachPaulWarner
WR 6'2 185 Lbs
C/O 2027
Displays the traits of a polished receiver whose route-running ability and ball skills consistently stand out on film. Explodes off the line of scrimmage while utilizing pace and leverage to create separation early in the route, showing the ability to run a complete route tree with minimal wasted movement. Possesses impressive length, a large catch radius, and consistently plucks the football away from his frame with confident hands. Tracks the ball naturally over his shoulder and shows the body control and boundary awareness to finish difficult catches, including an impressive toe-tap along the end zone. Competitive at the catch point, understands how to settle into zone coverage, and creates late throwing windows with strong route detail and disciplined late hands. Dangerous after the catch, possessing the elusiveness to make defenders miss in space, while also showing a willingness to engage and sustain blocks downfield to spring additional yardage for teammates.
⏱️ Favorite Rep (1:34): One-on-one near the red zone, he wins the rep by attacking the defensive back's leverage before stacking him vertically, tracking the football effortlessly, and finishing with outstanding late hands at the catch point.

⭐️Justin McGoy
@JustinMcgoy
Boyd-Buchanan High School
RB/Nickle 5'9 185Lbs.
C/O 2027
Displays the traits of an explosive playmaker whose vision, lateral burst, and natural movement skills consistently stand out on film. A fluid athlete who navigates space exceptionally well without sacrificing speed, he possesses outstanding jump-cut ability and the acceleration to explode through the second level. Runs with a naturally low center of gravity, displaying impressive lower-body strength, contact balance, and body control while consistently maximizing available yardage. Trusts his eyes and demonstrates an advanced feel for reading blocking structure, allowing plays to develop before decisively attacking daylight. Comfortable operating through traffic, he consistently makes defenders miss without losing pace, explodes laterally out of cuts, and possesses the speed to bend runs around the edge while turning routine carries into explosive gains.
⏱️ Favorite Rep (1:56): A play that appears destined for a loss, he keeps his shoulders square while bouncing the run outside, powers through two would-be tacklers in the backfield, and turns what should have been a tackle for loss into a physical 15-yard gain.

⭐️Eli Wolfe
@Eliwolfe70
Concord Christian School
@ccslionsknox
IOL/DL 6'0 265 Lbs.
C/O 2030
Displays the traits of a physically gifted young lineman whose strength, versatility, and natural power consistently stand out on film. Carries a dense, compact frame that already translates into impressive play strength for his age. Offensively, he takes efficient angles off the snap, consistently generating movement while maintaining balance and control through contact. Agile feet allow him to climb effectively to the second level, while his ability to pull and lead through the hole adds further versatility. Possesses exceptionally strong hands, establishing control early in the rep and rarely losing leverage once engaged. Plays with discipline, avoiding unnecessary overextension while consistently finishing blocks. Defensively, flashes a violent initial get-off, competes at the point of attack, and brings the versatility to impact multiple alignments. An intriguing young prospect with the physical tools to continue developing into a difference-maker on both sides of the football.
⏱️ Favorite Rep (0:21): Fires off the ball with an explosive first step, takes a perfect 45-degree angle, and immediately displaces the defensive tackle with natural strength, creating a clean running lane for his running back.

⭐️Elijah Valentine
@ElijahVal3ntine
Sevier County High School
EDGE/DE/TE
6'3 225 Lbs.
C/O 2027
Displays the traits of a defensive end with a college-ready frame whose motor, strength, and movement skills consistently stand out on film. Fires off the ball with urgency, utilizing heavy hands and active footwork to avoid allowing offensive linemen to establish control early in the rep. Possesses the strength to work through double teams while maintaining leverage and competing at the point of attack. Shows the athleticism to execute stunts effectively, displaying impressive lateral range, agility, and closing burst when working inside. Rushes with efficient angles and a defined pass-rush plan, consistently taking disciplined paths to the quarterback rather than relying solely on athleticism. One of the more appealing aspects of his game is his versatility and overall athletic profile, possessing the movement skills to project into fronts where he could occasionally drop into coverage at the next level. Strong grip strength, active hands, and a relentless motor allow him to remain disruptive throughout the game while consistently finishing around the football. A player I came away genuinely liking after studying the film.
⏱️ Favorite Rep (0:17): A great example of the athlete and force he is along the defensive front. Initially wins one-on-one, works through the double team, then physically overpowers the running back in pass protection, showcasing heavy hands, natural strength, and a relentless motor.

🚨 Tennessee Film Room Watch List Update 🚨

This is the first time I've ever pushed back a Watch List release, and there was only one reason to do it—I wanted to make it better for the athletes selected.
Rather than releasing the same format, I spent the extra time upgrading the series to provide additional value and visibility for every featured athlete.
Beginning with Tennessee, every Watch List selection will now include:

🏈 College coaching handles from throughout each athlete's home state to further expand visibility.
These upgrades are about one thing: making every Film Room Watch List selection as valuable as possible for the athletes featured.
Tomorrow's upgraded Tennessee Film Room Watch List will feature:
