TAEHYUN’s year-end letter 231231

As the year comes to an end, I thought I would jot down some thoughts in a slightly longer form for the first time in a while.

It feels like there wasn’t a year like this before, but I truly lived 2023 working hard. I worked hard in album preparations, album promotions, concert preparations, and performances. Besides the obvious, I tried to express my love to you more, put effort into exercising and eating well, had a year with the most personal projects, and genuinely tried to become happier.

While there were things that quickly showed positive results and changes, there were also many that didn’t. I suppose it’s the double-edged sword of working hard. Investing more time, emotions, and effort into achieving something increases the probability of success, but when it doesn’t work out, what you poured out can sometimes feel regrettable.

However, there are things that I worked hard on in 2023 that need more time to yield results. So, I don’t harbor resentment towards the hard work I put in this year. I have confidence that the efforts from this year will pay off in the coming years, whether it’s next year or the year after. Anyway, with the big data I’ve accumulated in my life, I’ve learned that it does come back, even if a bit late.

So, if you’ve worked hard this year and can confidently say that you did your best, even if the desired results or changes haven’t materialized yet, do not feel too disheartened or discouraged. I, too, as a human, sometimes doubt and question my efforts during such times, and it’s not easy on the mind.

Regardless of what became of this year for you, I hope the good results and changes you’ve been anticipating but haven’t yet seen will come to you in 2024. Cheers to all your hard work in 2023.
