Poems on Refuge for #NationalPoetryDay https://t.co/AftKB6x23H
Today we are extremely fortunate to be able to welcome @FrancesHardinge as part of the @GuernseyLitFest to talk to Year 9 today about her dark fantasy novel Unraveller and the art of fantasy writing #curiosity
We are very lucky this morning to have @Nlegoupillot speaking to our Year 10 students about leadership and the qualities leaders should have - with thanks to @GuernseyLitFest for organising another great opportunity for our students.
Happy #NationalPoetryDay! We've curated a list of poems on 'refuge', including a beautiful poem by our new Ambassador Lemn Sissay @lemnsissay from #LetTheLightPourIn, published by @canongatebooks
Enjoy this exclusive video of Lemn reading his poem to celebrate today 💡☀️
We're kicking off the year with a display of what our Year 7s are currently enjoying reading. Their PSHE homework project involved discovering the Library - they've certainly got stuck in! https://t.co/FY5FgWDdOk
@DeanAtta we thought you'd like to see a poem from one of our dyslexic students, Alex, inspired by 'I Come From' - thank you for helping him find his inner voice:
@EducationFest day two: inclusion, challenge, questioning, memory, poetry, wellbeing, leading, assessing, BAME, LGBTQ+ ....... we've got it all covered @Eliz_Coll, you are in safe hands! We are enjoying being curious, compassionate and courageous!
Year 7 have been looking at Carl Sandburg's poem 'Fog' & creating their own metaphorical weather poems. Ramsay has written the poem 'Thunder':
The storm hails down
like a great falcon.
It waits its turn
it circles above
when suddenly it comes down fast
then nowhere to be seen.
And as some poems are born to be performed as well as read, Phoebe kindly agreed to perform her weather based poem for us. Well done to Phoebe and all of the Year 7s for their creativity!
