After reaching a settlement with the university in January, Scheufele resigned last month. He began a new position as a professor at Arizona State University and is scheduled to teach a course this semester, according to the school’s website.

We obtained hundreds of pages of records detailing UW-Madison’s investigation from an attorney representing 3 students who filed complaints against Scheufele. Each said UW-Madison’s investigation left them questioning campus leaders’ commitment to preventing future misconduct.

Two students had reported concerns to Greek life officials months earlier, in October 2024. Greek life discussed those concerns with the officer but did not alert UWPD. When police later conducted an internal investigation, they did not interview any students.

Olbrich Botanical Garden’s visitor center, built in the 1970s, was designed to handle 150,000 visitors annually — an attendance number now doubled today.

Given the increase in visitors, staff are now devising expansions.
