@CaitlinC2041 Like you, I chose a hashtag that has created a community focused on destigmatizing important issues like mental health and disabled rights. I think it is so amazing how hashtags like #DisabilityVisibility can create online safe spaces for underrepresented communities.
#EndtheStigma highlights mental health and aims to reduce negative thoughts and promote the importance of mental health awareness. It provides a community that advocates for increased discussion surrounding mental health and shares stories of recovery.

@faizah_latif_ This is a great example of activism, especially in a city like ATL, where police brutality has been a real issue. A militarized police training center would enhance the violence problem, rather than encourage positive interaction between law enforcement & ATL citizens.
@faizah_latif_ I love how you pointe out that #AIDigitalMarketing can be used to predict trends. I think this exemplifies a smart use of AI and one that does not infringe on peoples rights, original content, or jobs.
@CaitlinC2041 Your post does a great job of pointing out the issue of internet bots. I cannot even tell you how many times I have encountered bots myself, and they are the worst! Sometimes they are genuinely hard to distinguish, making human interaction on the internet more difficult.
and urge them to support human artists. This movement is particularly prevalent on Twitter right now because the platform recently updated its terms and conditions, removing the ability for users to opt out of having posts used for AI/generative training.
With AI becoming increasingly capable, #humanart supports artists and animators who fear their jobs or original artistic content will be stolen by AI. These artists are taking to social media to connect with their audiences (continued in thread).

@CaitlinC2041 This a great example of not only hashtag activism, but also how celebrities can use their social media platforms to promote important ideas and movements to their large following. A notable celebrity like Halsey discussing mental health makes it more accessible to her followers.
@RU_BryantSa This example shows that sometimes graphic images are the best way to shock people into making real change. Despite that this is not easy to look at, it proves that the problem is very real and needs fixing.
The #MeToo movement discussed in this week's readings shows how hashtag activism can incite real change and provide a safe space for victims with similar experiences. It has also led to the downfall of powerful abusers in a "system of enablement."

R. Kelly was found guilty of all charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking, by a New York jury yesterday.
“This is one of the #MeToo cases in which we’re not just looking at an individual perpetrator, we’re looking at a system of enablement,” said @jodikantor.
@abduliorashid Hi Abdul! #DigitalPrivacy is such an important topic in today’s society. Making it into a hashtag is especially smart, since many people get their information on social media, and social media is the place where digital privacy is most important.
@AlyssaRaim52233 Hi! I also think #MeToo is one of the best social media movements when it comes to empowering women. It allowed women who felt helpless to feel like they had a voice for the first time and find a community
Hi everyone! This semester, I am interested in #SkinPositivity . This hashtag is part of a movement to challenge traditional beauty standards and embrace “imperfections” such as acne or scars.
