I hate that having publications is the new norm for post-baccs or undergrads applying to PhD programs in psych. It’s not fair. People don’t have equal access to these opportunities and there is a contingency on lab culture.

These people have day jobs and more family obligations. 3 weeks of 14hr days is not feasible for most so we can end up w a school designed for privileged people only.
