“We started a company to get super rich and we are now publishing a study that says everyone should give us a bunch of money so we can get super rich. Thank you, can we please have our money now?”
@OsafanmenI It’s sad, of course. It’s heartbreaking to imagine how she felt waking up in a reality that she existed within and her baby did not. But the patient in front of you is the one you save. That’s it.
@OsafanmenI The scariest case of my life so far happened yesterday, an 11 week ruptured ectopic. I truly did not know if she would survive. I was so scared. Not even once, long long after she was (a bit) resuscitated did I consider that a fetus didn’t survive.
Important medical context:
Ventricular fibrillation (VF) is a potentially fatal arrhythmia. When someone goes into VF they lose consciousness and are in cardiac arrest.
Fortunately Fetterman has an AICD (an implanted defibrillator), which saved his life when he went into VF.
@theahmedjaffery@NTFabiano There’s a time for walking briskly & a time for slowing down. At work, I walk quite fast. I’m not really that anxious, just have a lot to do & want to get it done. In nature, I walk quite slowly. In fact, I often stop mid-walk just to listen to the bird sounds & life around me.
@mhjrad if this actually happens, it’ll be amazing. this is among the first times i’ve felt like the recent classes have a game changer on their hands. i graduated 2 years ago 😅
@DisabledDoctor hypotension that can be dangerous. I’m all for bodily autonomy and self-advocacy, but sedation is not the only indication for an IV in that case.
@DisabledDoctor Anesthesia resident here. I understand declining sedation, but many hospitals have a policy that no procedure can be performed without an IV. There are a lot of really good reasons for this—if you prepped properly, you’re most likely dehydrated. This + scope can cause 1/2
@DYidersal@joshmcgoo I haven’t even experienced its utility in shock, but it makes sense given its ability to preserve cardiac output & respiratory drive! Now I think ketamine is even cooler.
@DYidersal@joshmcgoo Ketamine is a fantastic sedative with many use cases in the ED, including orthopedic manipulation, cardioversions, etc.! Even pediatric conscious sedation. Ketamine for the win.
@AnniesBackAgain@AzPetrich The government is treating them as the same. That is why everyone is so angry. Also, your slut-shaming adds nothing to the conversation.
