A note from the team: we're pushing the release date for Sherlock Holmes and the Other Woman to November 13th. Both so we can make the book as polished as can be, and to commemorate the anniversary of Mother Cabrini's beatification in the States😉

Thank you for your patience!

In my debut novel, Sherlock Holmes meets an intellectual equal in Mother Cabrini, who has never taken “no” for an answer (unless spoken through the mouth of God).

Battling illness, prejudice, and threats to her order, will Mother Cabrini remain steadfast in her mission to improve the lives of immigrants and preserve her London school?

[Elle Dibden @elledibden]

@nicola0852 Also, Holmes faces the challenge of supporting Watson through his grief at the loss of his second wife

@nicola0852 I would say yes, as in the novel, both Holmes and Watson are challenged to confront the issues Mother Cabrini fought and navigated around at the time, like the politics of the Vatican and the treatment and education of children

[Elle Dibden @elledibden]

@nicola0852 I did! I was inspired by her work, especially her service of immigrant communities, and thought that would be interesting to explore in the setting of Victorian London. As well as the challenges she faced as a woman and the industry in which she responded

[Elle Dibden @elledibden]

@nicola0852 The Cabrini connection came from my own personal interest 🙂

[Elle Dibden @elledibden]

@nicola0852 Thank you! Holmes historically has not cared much for relationships (with women, and in general) and religion, so I wanted to explore a case that would force him to confront both

[Elle Dibden @elledibden]

@hub34021 Once you meet her in the story, you'll understand 😉 in all seriousness, I was inspired by the intellectual relationship between Holmes and Irene Adler, hence the play on words! The Cabrini timeline overlap was fortuitous for tying their stories together

[Elle Dibden @elledibden]

@hmdpublishing Thank you so much!
