Very grateful that my essay on VD in the Vietnam War was selected as winner, and especially cool to win alongside @ellen_hausner! Excited to continue engaging with questions of colonialism, race, sex, and medicine in my current DPhil research on yaws in South & Southeast Asia.
I'm thrilled to be one of two winners of the 2023 Senior Kirkaldy Prize! It was awarded for my essay which analyzed the early modern annotations on the medieval Ripley Scroll at the @bodleianlibs. Thank you so much to @OxfordHSMT and congrats to the other winner @philippa_monk!

@FarleyKatz1 @bodleianlibs A really interesting point. According to one of the keys that the writer gives, the insect stands for sal ammoniac. He uses this bee/insect many times over at least six manuscripts. So I'm not sure if honey is relevant here--but it could be!
I'm researching alchemical images and glyphs in the Elias Ashmole collections at the @bodleianlibs and am absolutely loving this manuscript with its insect (bee?) illustrations! From MS. Ashmole 1408.

I am thrilled to announce that in October 2023, I will be starting a full-time doctorate at Oxford University. I will be within the Faculty of the History of Science, researching natural philosophy in early modern alchemical thought. I am incredibly excited to begin!
