@lambda_calculus Thanks for exposing how ignorant and appalling some of the opponents of housing on the Civic Core site have revealed themselves to be. ANC Commissioners should discount opposition when they rconsider the survey results on 11/27. Clearly many opponents are merely fear-mongering.
@maustermuhle The December 15th meeting is only about declaring the extra development rights on the Chevy Chase Library and Community Center surplus, not what should be done on the site. The city is already committed to replacing the two facilities, and creating new housing as well.
@lydiadepillis Congratulations Lydia! So very richly deserved. Have fun with Neil Irwin and the rest of the amazing folks at NYT economics β such a challenging time for the econ beat.
@whatwouldDOOdo Just gonna keep on wearing my Nats Doo jersey and keeping my fingers crossed that Mike Rizzo realizes his error and brings you back. And @EireannDolan too, of course. Best all-round humans, as another tweeter said.
@DaneMizutani Amen! When are all Americans going to recognize that most immigrants are here because they had the initiative, the courage and the sheer determination to come to a new country and commit to making a better life by working hard. They make great contributions to American life!
@409jefe_ @Phil_Lewis_ So if you or your loved ones contract COVID, can we taxpayers refuse to pay for the ambulance to take you to the ER, or reimburse the hospital if you donβt have insurance or tell Medicare snot to pay for your hospitalization, b/c you can just take a few herbs and get cured?
@mnolangray@TheAtlantic Excellent article. Wish I could send a copy to every DC Councilmember who is now facing a vote on Comp Plan amendments to moderately increase residential density and hearing from angry constituents all the same misinformed diatribes against "luxury housing".
@OConnellPostbiz Two errors β assumes that all luxury housing is subsidized β not the case in DC. Also assumes that creating walkable neighborhoods is some plot to attract rich people, rather than a move to make places most people enjoy being.
