@TablePlus Tbf self hosting a service designed to support millions of users, while operated by a team, is quite difficult

K3s on Hetzner cloud for a good while, and AWS at every job I had before that

[Ellie Huxtable @elliehuxtable]

haven't used aws in a few years and omg this thing is so annoying

[Ellie Huxtable @elliehuxtable]

@m_bana Me too!! And it’s SO CLOSE to being perfect

[Ellie Huxtable @elliehuxtable]

I cannot wait for the future where low latency connectivity is ubiquitous

Our devices can become dumb terminals and the "magic" can happen elsewhere

[Ellie Huxtable @elliehuxtable]

@Jilles Shiiiit you might be right

[Ellie Huxtable @elliehuxtable]

the office monstera is flowering! I had no idea they did that

[Ellie Huxtable @elliehuxtable]

@1thousandfaces_ get that quarter life crisis in and done quickly?

[Ellie Huxtable @elliehuxtable]

@jetpham5 Ahead of its time 😭

[Ellie Huxtable @elliehuxtable]

@kwuchu if this is for Rust you should check out mr boxington by @jdxcode!

@compuficial I do miss my fun lil vim setup though

[Ellie Huxtable @elliehuxtable]

@itsjustemail psh I bet you also buy ddr5

I don’t mean to flex, but…

[Ellie Huxtable @elliehuxtable]

@superchicao10 personally putting all my savings into memory

[Ellie Huxtable @elliehuxtable]

@shifkey never thought 128gb of ddr4 would be that hahaha

XT5 firmware booting up on mac, in a VM

Absolutely wild that this is possible and I did ~none of the work, beyond asking an agent to figure it out

[Jake 🎉 @jitl]

i’m running fujifilm x100vi firmware in a VM w/ Hypervisor.framework at full speed, this baby can memcopy 9gb/s. AArch64 supremacy!!

something that keeps bothering me is how some people see slop as something that is happening to them, like they're some kind of helpless bystander powerless to do anything about it

excuse me but you are a software engineer, you literally learned how to make sand think and make computers do your bidding?! and now you can't do anything about it? please

the 2 things you should know to cut through all the noise:

1. you need to give your agent a way to verify its own work (i just posted about this so won't rehash)
2. your codebase is memory

the 2nd is not new either, we have always had lint rules, compilers with good diagnostics and strong type systems, LSPs, etc to help us write better code. there is no difference when agents write the code instead, you just need more of them, and stronger ones.

forget rules and skills. you can add those later.

yes, your codebase is a form of memory to agents! agents love extending what already exists. so every nit and every annoyance you've ever seen, every mistake and bad pattern you observe from agents, needs to turn into a constraint, or the agents will just keep repeating those same mistakes like a virus in your code. then you keep observing and repeating this process until your codebase is locked down enough that even agents with little context can one shot a high quality PR.

an even better direction is to refactor/rewrite your code such that agent anti-patterns become categorically impossible. use type systems to your advantage, use libraries/frameworks that reduce the architectural search space, or heck, create your own framework like we did for grok bot and design high quality primitives and well thought out APIs

[Ellie Huxtable @elliehuxtable]

@neogoose_btw nah super happy with it, i actually want it to just rip for hours until it finishes what i asked it to do

I had no idea people were complaining about it before haha

[Ellie Huxtable @elliehuxtable]

codex really will just keep going until my camera firmware boots in a vm, madness

[Ellie Huxtable @elliehuxtable]

remember when an m1 laptop was more than enough
