25 years ago I read "Our Band Could Be Your Life" and it changed how I thought about music and writing.
And the other day I got to talk to @michaelazerrad
about how the book came about and the huge influence it's had!

After months of work, my radio documentary on the influential guitarist Clarence White is out! featuring Ry Cooder and Gene Parsons discussing their late friend.

"I think it is fair to say that it’s possible to get a read on someone by looking at their record collection." - @henryrollins, who turns 64 today.

Posted this everywhere else but here. I made a 2 part radio doc on Ry Cooder. It features a lot of great music, archive interviews with Ry by @NickBollinger1 plus a chat with Ry's son and collaborator @JoachimCooder. Have a listen if you feel so inclined https://t.co/YBMkVp1WzI
@michaelazerrad I was thrilled to find that Freedy Johnston reference in the book. Can You Fly is one if my all time favourite albums (loved it since I was 7) and to see it mentioned in a book about a band I loved as a teenager seemed like some sort of aweseome synchronicity. Thanks for that.
When we recorded this on Monday, @vcunningham, @frynaomifry and I had no idea that @pitchfork would be gone by the time the episode dropped. Really feeling for everyone who lost their jobs. We need critics. Let critics live!

I got to talk to @Marcissist about his fascinating book High Bias: The Distorted History Of The Cassette Tape.
I had a great time chatting with Marc about the book and the way tapes changed music consumption. Have a listen here.... https://t.co/p4E941LH4P
bandcamp editorial being gutted is particularly dark because some of the smartest writers and editors were over there covering scenes that *nobody* else would. 1 of the last music pubs that demonstrated unabashed curiosity, that treated music as an endlessly expanding world.
Laying off half the staff including the core editorial team isn’t business as usual. @songtradr had a chance to do the right thing, but many artists will look at today’s news and conclude that they’ve bungled it.
Conjuring ZZ Top and the Dead much in the same way that the Minutemen chanelled CCR and Van Halen, the Meat Puppets' weird boogie odyssey ‘Huevos’ is one of the great American guitar records. An alternate history of punk where its major deity isn’t Johnny Thunders, it’s JJ Cale.
Tune in! Mainly because Tony is great and it'll be an awesome show but also because my reviews of new music by @MegaRan @brokenrecordcol and Umeko Ando are being played.
