Another City of Portland bureaucracy boss is out the door.

Priya Dhanapal, the deputy city administrator for public works, is leaving after just two years on the job. She was appointed in May 2024 and oversees roughly 3,200 employees across Transportation, Water, Parks and Environmental Services.

And the best part?

Nobody seems to be saying why she’s leaving.
Was she asked to resign? Did she quit? Was there some spectacular bureaucratic meltdown behind the scenes?

Apparently, the public is not entitled to know.

Two years in a six-figure City Hall leadership gig, overseeing thousands of employees, and then—poof. Gone.

But presumably with whatever benefits, payout or other parting arrangements come with one of these cushy government positions.

A person can apparently handle only so much Portland bureaucracy before enough is enough.

The layers of administration, management and internal BS at the City of Portland are mind-numbing.

Meanwhile, the rest of us get to watch another top-level city official walk away while taxpayers are left wondering what happened.

Local police SPECIFICALLY CONFIRMED the attack was targeted at Aaron Marin.

Bullet holes can be seen in trees, cars, mailbox, and his kid's basketball hoop. Marin's ENTIRE FAMILY was forced to leave their home and Aaron says they live in, "constant fear."

He says his kids no longer even feel safe to play outside and they are moving away.

Marin's family couldn't stay.

They FLED District 1 entirely, which made him ineligible to run there.

Yesterday, the Board of Elections confirmed the county GOP never filed a replacement before the deadline.
