I talked to a wheelchair user who had to go on his balcony and shout to ask for food, a mom who couldn't user her EBT card, a woman who slept upright in a chair because her COPD machine wouldn't work. The crisis in Gary is the product of structural neglect but also climate change
i don't know why it's so hard for some people to believe that black people are still being lynched (in the south) when we literally watched a masked white supremacist group rally in DC on july 4th. we watch as cops and ICE kill people in broad day.
it's not hard to believe.
Keshia Golden is NOT a rare case. She is the status quo. I know a woman who spent 30 years in prison after the cops left her abuser in HER HOUSE after she repeatedly called. When he attacked her and broke her leg, she put a knife in his chest and had to crawl across the street to a payphone only to be arrested herself for “not leaving.”
BREAKING:
The Washington Post fired me last year for speaking the truth after Charlie Kirk's killing. I fought back.
I'm happy to announce: I won my case against the Washington Post.
They have been ordered to reinstate me immediately. ✊🏾

LATEST: ICE agents earlier crashed into a blue pickup truck near the Damen Avenue exit on I-55 and detained the driver. According to witnesses and local officials, the convoy had been following the man, who was wearing construction clothes and had been at a nearby Home Depot.
The agents then abandoned the truck on the highway after detaining the driver.
ICE activity has visibly increased in recent weeks, with ongoing reports of arrests across the city and suburbs. Many of those arrests have occurred in or around Home Depot parking lots, according to patrollers. https://t.co/YfmMB9HlPN
Keshia Golden just accepted a plea deal. 24 months probation. That is STILL criminalizing a survivor. Now, with this record, she will never:
- work a meaningful job in the public or private sector
- qualify for public housing or benefits
- be able to be with her baby at many school events depending on the state
That record will follow her FOREVER and handicap her forever.
Spent the last few days working on a dynamic map that shows hanging deaths of Black people since 2018. Of all the ones I’ve tracked so far, a vast majority of the circumstances of the hangings are disputed by family.
So much more to go.
Incarcerated women experience this more than anyone as sex specific women’s prisons are MUCH more rural and spaced out across the country. This intersects with family court as literally a transfer to a far away prison can be seen by the court as ABANDONMENT & FORFEITURE of your parental rights
Keisha Golden is a darkskinned Black woman who killed her abuser during a domestic violence incident while she was 8 months pregnant.
She’s on trial and the state wants her to go to prison
SHE WAS 8 months pregnant.
Abolish prisons!!

black americans are always told that they need to "get over" slavery but when we look at it, white people are the ones who never got over it and you can see it in the way they’ve been trying to recreate it with prison, treatment, union busting, ai/robot servitude fantasies, etc.
Black people are not randomly hanging themselves from trees to commit suicide, they're being lynched.
Just like Indigenous people in Canada were not walking in the middle of nowhere to freeze themselves to death, cops were taking them on "Starlight tours"
HELLO @TorontoPolice MURDERED KALEYM DAVY IN COLD BLOOD. They wrongfully accused a black boy of stealing a car. Shot at him with someone in the car & in a fucking undercover car - to make matters worse this was in PEEL POLICE'S DISTRICT. Black Toronto cannot stop until justice is served. As a mother of a black boy I cannot sleep tonight - what do you mean a family lost their child because @TorontoPolice STILL have anti black biases?!

i just think anyone treating Hilario Dominguez as a serious CPS Board candidate has a deep disrespect for listening to women
he needs to consistently be asked about his treatment of women, why he tried to smear and intimidate women who made complaints
like everywhere he goes
Today I learned about Oseola McCarty. From YouTube of all places. I want to be just like her.
“Oseola McCarty was a Mississippi philanthropist who donated most of her life savings, $150,000, to the University of Southern Mississippi to provide scholarships for African American students in need. A seamstress and washerwoman who was paid mostly in dollar bills and loose change her entire life, McCarty was praised for her generosity and received many awards, including a statue and honorary degree from the university. McCarty was born on March 7, 1908, in Shubuta, Mississippi, and died on September 26, 1999, at the age of 91, at her home in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.” - Historical Africa YouTube Channel
“Chicagoans have been absolutely clear: They do not want data centers expanding across our city without strong protection for their communities, their utility bills, their air, water and their quality of life.” @wttw https://t.co/yhZPOE1jj1
