Bear 89, aka Backpack, is the 2026 Fat Bear Week champ. Turns out hefty runs in the family.
His mom, Holly the Duchess of Density, won in 2019. She carried him on her back as a cub and helped him survive a serious leg injury. Now her little Backpack has a crown of his own. 👑

Today, Nevis, an eastern Caribbean island of 13,000 people, marks 43 years free from British rule.
A Belgian crypto billionaire wants one-tenth of Nevis: 2,400 acres, his own currency, his own courts and 10,000 new residents.
This is crypto-colonialism. Nevisians are saying no.
Lord of Life, You have given us the gift of water, source of fruitfulness, freshness, and hope. It quenches thirst, nourishes the earth, and heals wounds. We see with pain so many brothers and sisters who lack clean water, who walk for miles to find it, who become ill due to its scarcity. Forgive us for turning it into a commodity, forgetting that it is a universal gift, a right without borders, meant for all your children. Let’s #PrayTogether at https://t.co/VVI6MfRjM5
Today, I was proud to join New Yorkers for the 9/11 Day of Service at the Intrepid Museum.
September 11th is a day we remember the terror and loss our city endured. It is also a day we remember the extraordinary courage, kindness and generosity New Yorkers showed one another.
We remember the first responders who rushed into the fire, civilians who gave their time and expertise, neighbors who cooked meals and checked in on one another, and a city that came together to weather our darkest day.
As we approach the 25th anniversary of 9/11, one of the best ways we can honor them is by carrying that spirit of service forward.
