Anna Pauline “Pauli” Murray was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 20, 1910. Pauli Murray lived one of the most remarkable lives of the twentieth century.

Pauli’s aunt & primary caregiver, Pauline Fitzgerald Dame, taught in an all-Black school. “Aunt Pauline taught in the local public schools & when I was around 4, she decided to bring me w/her every day.”
