Hello friends! You may already know this, but i very recently released a new chapbook! it's called I'm Hungry, Please Come Home. It is a book of poems, driven by the engine of hunger. I spent the last couple years writing it, but mostly 2021.
i know about Kafka's famous letter to his Father, but are there other literary examples of this? Like, other writers who have published weird, difficult, epistolary-type things to their parents?
For a long time after my book came out it felt like all I could do was move two lines around at a time, arranging shards. I’ve since broken out of that mode thank god but I’m publishing a few pieces now as a nod to that time / process. Here is one in @kenyonreview.
every child you see with mangled legs being hopelessly carried, every person you see lit on fire, all the dust covered faces, they were a whole universe. to themselves and everybody they knew. lives as complex, joyful and difficult as yours. it kills me. i’ll never get numb to it
After this year of horror, genocide, action, & resistance, I am a changed woman. I am a different person in every fundamental way. I am broken & refigured. I am livid & consumed by grief. I am carried forward by the knowledge that I will see a free Palestine before my days end.
when politicians are okay with this i have reason to believe that any alleged support of my rights is not a moral position but a strategic one. i won’t be bought
all the gay liberals reacting to that chappell roan statement… get a life lol. people don’t like seeing babies blown to pieces and then get told that is must happen and that we’ll pay and provide the bombs for it. take it up with kamala! no one owes you fealty
BREAKING:
President of Colombia:
“Palestinians are Semites. Therefore, killing children by dropping bombs on Gaza and failing to oppose it is antisemitic. The most antisemitic act today is to repeat Hitler’s Holocaust upon humanity, especially against the Palestinian people.
Netanyahu and his government, fugitives from international justice, do not represent Semitism; they represent Nazism.”
It’s been said before but the second Greta started making connections between climate change and capitalism, colonialism, and imperialism the media coverage came to a screeching halt.
