Open source code, ideas, and projects to empower the web and enhance education. elmsln, #HAXTheWeb, #webcomponents, #drupal and more

Migrating from @elmsln to #HAXTheWeb while developing both simultaneously over several years.

This video @btopro briefly discusses the process of building both solutions with a small team and then why you can migrate by pointing to a URL. #NGDLE#edtech
Discussions keep coming together more and more. This image is refactored from a white boarding session friday. At the bottom, this graphic showing why we can build anything. Below all of our work is our ontology and web component standard. Then, slim layers of Lit+Vercel+tooling.
Above that, functional web components that we've written and borrowed. Then above that layer, HAX specific web components to make the editor work. Then at the top, HAXcms specific web components to power the CMS side of things. All at very low layers, and all the layers below HAX work in any solution. HAXcms then implements HAX, which then is expanded by the capabilities of the functional / design elements (thx to tiny piece of schema).

A/B test: HAX usability vs WordPress to build a course for rapid discussion

This is comparing HAX UX of building a page and menu structure against WP w/o Gutenberg (edu default for most).

6 years ago, to celebrate 10 years of ELMS, I posted about the progress of an idea from it's infancy to what we had at that time. It charted every meaningful project happening from an idea and diagram in a visio diagram up till using Polymer for #webcomponents.
Let's continue..
In early 2017, I was invited to talk about @elmsln at BYU's university API unconference. It was a life changing experience. I gave a talk about the platform and later at dinner their C-suite allowed me to eat when someone asked a question and perfectly explained the concept.
My son recently said "Dad... wasn't it someone's birthday recently" and I said... I don't think so....
"Yeah it was, you said it was your project's birthday."
Oh yea bud, I forgot but yes it was last week
"What does that mean.."
The problems described here were ones we shared in building the hydra system that ELMS:LN is in order to provoke innovation at scale. A style guide was not enough, a few years into web components we have scale + consistency + @HAXTheWeb and friends all by developing the same way

In this video I reverse engineer a #webcomponent by analyzing the https://t.co/v7RNvDg2G6 website. Our office commissioned a "course style guide" ~10 years ago to solve similar problems in design inconsistency.
Introducing the first in the HAX Tutorial Series: New User Tutorial https://t.co/yIkNk5kzD9
Geared toward a PSU audience as far as login, after the first few seconds it's how any user would start building with HAX.

Starting new youtube channel dedicated to all things officially HAXTheWeb. As HAXCellence begins adding official tutorials, demos, and other things about the project they'll start finding their way here.

Similar story w/ ELMS:LN button. Migration of a course was an entire planning meeting w/ slated week+ of work, blown up by this capability to import in seconds. Automation + user needs + UX focus on real problems real people have, that's how HAX changes the game in or out of elms
just another success story from HAX7. Expecting a lot more as word starts to get out about what we've done here. This saved hours if not days of copy and paste migration for skilled staff who now can focus efforts on high quality course production instead! #NGDLE is real
