From racetracks to airfields to rover arenas – this month we’ve shared Roo-ver, our prototype lunar rover, with curious minds across Australia. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and said g’day to Roo-ver!
We’re back at #ARCh2025! Our prototype for Roo-ver, Australia’s first lunar rover, will be on display - and our engineers will be there too! We're proud to support the next gen of Aussie space talent and share how we’re building tech for the Moon, right here in Australia.
Say g’day to Roo-ver at the @AusSpaceAgency
stand at #AvalonAirshow! Check out our prototype of Australia’s first lunar rover and meet the engineers building off-Earth tech right here at home. Into space or robotics? Come say hi! #Roover#SpaceAustralia
We’re making history! The ELO₂ Consortium has just been selected by the Australian Space Agency to build Australia’s first lunar rover, "Roo-ver." This $42 million national project will harness the innovation and expertise of partners from every corner of Australia. #GDayMoon
Did you know? The Moon’s radiation levels are intense! Our rover design meets this challenge with radiation-hardened materials and shielding and rigorous testing to keep its tech safe and operational. #Trailblazer#GDayMoon
Planning meetings, 3D modelling, consulting on flight requirements, and visiting schools with our rover prototypes—just another day for our ELO2 engineers, blending innovation with inspiration! #SpaceInnovation#Trailblazer#GDayMoon
Who knows better about dusty terrain than kangaroos? Last year, we introduced Pluto the Kangaroo to our prototype lunar rover at Lone Pine Sanctuary. Our Aussie rover even caught the eye of a curious emu! #Trailblazer#GDayMoon#ROO-ver
By building 4 prototypes, we've gained vital insights into our lunar rover design. From autonomous systems to handling the Moon's 1/6th gravity, these prototypes test critical features and have inspired students across Australia. #Trailblazer#GDayMoon#ROO-ver
The Trailblazer Program will truly be Australia's boldest adventure yet and ELO₂ plans to engage a crew over 100 talented Australians.

Lachlan Carboon, finalist of our Big Dipper Challenge, became an intern at Lunar Outpost Oceania and returned to his hometown to inspire students with our rover prototype. From student to space intern, he’s proving space dreams can start in Australia!

Collaboration is key to uplifting Australia’s space capabilities. At ELO₂, we’ve united top engineers and researchers to build our 4 Trailblazer lunar rover prototypes, advancing Aussie innovation and paving the way for future space exploration.

We’re often asked why our rover’s solar panels are on the side. The Trailblazer mission targets the Moon’s south pole, where the Sun stays low on the horizon. Side panels ensure our rover gets the most sunlight, keeping it powered for its crucial lunar tasks. #GDayMoon
Engaging with the Australian public has been key to our lunar rover mission. From Big and Little Dipper Challenges to testing workshops with the Endeavour Foundation, these experiences enrich our designs and inspire future space explorers! #GDayMoon
Behind the Scenes: Our lunar rover prototypes are being rigorously tested across Australia, simulating the harsh conditions of the Moon. These tests help us refine designs and reduce risk, boosting our chances of mission success! #GDayMoon
How does a lunar rover communicate with Earth? We’re developing communication systems, signal processing, and software to handle the Moon-Earth distance. ELO₂ tested this at the Australian Rover Challenge last March by remote-operating from Colorado, US. #GDayMoon
At ELO₂, we’re pioneering technology for a sustainable human presence in space. With Australia’s expertise and our collaborative focus, our innovations for the Moon's surface are advancing space missions and enhancing capabilities here on Earth. #GDayMoon
Our rover's wheels are built for the Moon's tough terrain—lightweight yet strong, with grousers to dig into lunar dust for better traction. Through testing, we've optimised their design to ensure the rover can navigate and perform in harsh lunar conditions. #GDayMoon
We’ve tested ELO₂'s 4 lunar rover prototypes at Australia’s EXTERRES Lab and EPE MILTECS. These world-class facilities helped refine tilting, object detection, and autonomous systems in lunar-like conditions. Every test brings us closer to a successful mission! #GDayMoon
Our lunar rover prototypes are proudly @AustralianMade! Built in #Aus, our rovers highlight the skill & innovation of our local industries. Supporting Aussie-made strengthens our economy and drives the future of space exploration. #GDayMoon
