Finally Vicky from @BAS_News and @eloisesavineau@NOCnews measure the respiration of individual copepods with #oxygen sensors! Tiny creatures in tiny bottles!
Excited to be joining the @biocarbon_nerc #DY180 cruise as part of the @UniofExeter zooplankton team.
If you ever wondered what zooplankton see when in bongo net, look no further! Only 5 days to go till I get to see some ocean critters 👀
Excited to have published my first paper on some of my PhD work looking at zooplankton ecology in the Scotia Sea! It has been a long time in the making and it's nice to finally see it out and about 😊🌊

We are delighted to say #AMT30 has departed to embark upon a 6 week expedition sampling the South and North Atlantic Oceans. This will provide a continuation of AMT measurements since 1995 to enable decadal scale ecosystem changes to be detected. #DY157 https://t.co/2ZNv2UyCbe
Thrilled to announce that #AMT30 (a research programme that samples the open ocean between the #UK and the #SouthAtlantic) has departed for the first time since 2019, following a COVID enforced pause. Find out more: https://t.co/tmtOAEdjJK

@jorgemorenogc@PhDVoice We did also just get a 10% increase in our stipend due to inflation in the UK. I do some assistant teaching work for the uni and that pays quite well. But that's really extra money and I would be able to live without it.
@jorgemorenogc@PhDVoice As mentioned I think it depends where you are. London is more expensive, but they do get a higher stipend because of that there (although not sure how proportional it is).
I think in other cities (eg. I'm in southampton) the stipend is enough to not have to get another job.
