So let me understand the governing principle here: when Mamdani talks to Trump to advance the interests of New Yorkers, it’s smart statesmanship; when Jeffries talks to Kushner, it’s capitulation…even though Jeffries previously worked with Kushner to deliver landmark criminal-justice reform without surrendering an inch of principle or oversight.

A reminder: Jeffries later served as a House impeachment manager, prosecuting the case against Trump in the Senate. Apparently, engaging across the aisle and holding a president accountable can coexist. Imagine that.

The chutzpah is impressive. The logic? A little meshuga.
